    Default HDS-8 or HDS-10 ??

    .

I'm getting ready to order one of these GPS/Sonar/LSS-1 combos.
I've been looking at the specs on the display. The HDS-10 is larger,
but both of them are 600x800 displays. Does the HDS-10 really
    get you anything ?

I plan on running side-scan in the lower half and split the top half
with GPS and down-scan. I'll have the unit at arms length.

    thanks kindly, Chris

I would get the largest screen you can afford. Every step up in screen size is huge especially in side scan.

I have the HDS8, and the Hds7 too for that matter, and I dont feel I miss much not having a 10 over the 8. You get everything in the hds8 that you get in the 10, except the screen size. Cant imagine needing the 10 myself crappie fishing. If you put on 2 screens at once, both the displays are still huge. I usually do run 4 screens at the same time. In my case anyway, the pain of that price far outweighs the gain in screen size.IMHO

I just added the 8 to my set-up. I was seriously considering the 10, and I know this sounds crazy, but I thought it was just too big for the console on my Skeeter...
Here's my set-up with the 7 up front.

I have an 8 and a 7 too and if money were no object, I'd have 2 of the 10's.

    .

    Thanks guys. I went ahead and pre-ordered a Gen2 HDS-10 LSS-1 bundle.

I'm hoping side imaging will be the edge I've always wanted on hunting crappie !

I have and HDS 8 on the console and an HDS 10 on my trolling motor with (2) LSS-1's. I regret not buying the HDS 10 for the console specifically for the side scan functionality. If you do buy the HDS 10 you will not regret it. Just my $.02.
