    If it's like my 1197...

Push "Power" button - 1 time
    Welcome screen appears...
    Push "Menu" button- 1 time
    System choice screen appears...Normal/Simulator/SystemStatus
With cursor.. Arrow down to Simulator...Arrow right 1 click
    Push "Exit"- 1 time

Don't knock your head too hard kosmo...I had to actually go to my unit in the garage and go thru the process to remember myself...

    Same here Rickie!
Is there such a thing as being too familiar with something to the point that you forget?

I think my forgetfullness is more attributed to getting old...

Why do you want it in simulator mode? anyway you can always just unplug the transducer cable and bam! or while turned on press the power button and now you have the option to turn off the transducer/sonar so it will automatically be put in to simulator mode.
