    Default HDS Zoom fix..........

    Well, kinda.

    I just received the Lowrance Lake Insight HD map SD I ordered. I put it in my HDS7 and now can zoom to 20 feet with full panel or 2 panel screen views. This "chip" has far more detail than the "built in" Insight maps. I installed the new "chip" in my HDS8 which has factory installed Insight maps. The unit loaded the new Insight map. I can now zoom to 100 feet with shaded relief maps. Before, I could only zoom to .2 miles without loosing the shaded relief imaging.

    This picture is a shaded relief view of one of my go to locations. The shaded relief seems to be accurate as far as location goes. I will find out more as time goes by.

    So to zoom to 20 foot without pain, you can get the Insight HD maps........

    neat, now a ? for ya CP;

    All of the waypoints you have in the 1st pic, can you hit those waypoints dead on or real close when trolling with w/ your HDS only able to zoom in to 100' or do those waypoints mean something different to you?

    I LL 99% of the time, and can zoom in to 20' on my HH Garmin gps. I seldom hit the mark (dead on the WP), as the HH beeps when I do. Trying to get a handle on how much zoom the HDS units are capable of, but it seems like you have to upgrade to have the good zoom capability, but its still limited to a point correct? like maybe 100' is the best zoom for the HDS ?
    GO BIG ORANGE !

    I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

    With this map, I can zoom to 20ft. With Navionics, I can zoom to 50ft. With Installed Insight you can zoom to 20ft.

    20ft zoom is restricted to 2 panels. If you have 3/4 panels, you can zoom to only 50ft and sometimes 100ft depending on your location.

    I have NMEA 2000 network and use lcg4000 external antenna. It seems to be accurate, but I don't have much cockpit time with it.

    I have 3 Garmins that I refuse to give up. I am a Garmin fan, however I now leave my Garmin at home and am gaining confidence in the lcg4000.

    Time will tell.

    You can turn the beeps off. ha......I can't hear them anyhow.

    No upgrade required. Order units with basemap and get Insight SD. Solves zoom issues.
