There really isn't a "cone angle" .... well, not one to speak of, anyway. The E5DSI has a fan shaped sonar ping, about 3deg thick. That's why it's showing you "pictures" of what's under you, and not colored or b/w blobs.

Look back a few pages or so, and find the link I put on that has the "operations manual" ... print it out & study it. (you can pretty much throw the one that came with it, away) Then, check the manual to see where to go to change something ... making minor changes as you go along.

Just remember that you need to be moving along, to get a really good "picture" of the bottom/cover ... (if moving less than 0.5mph, your "target" is constantly being scanned , and you're screen is going to show an elongated line instead of a branch or whatever)
