    Default hummingbird 798ci SI and Matrix 12

    I have a Matrix 12 on my boat and just ordered a 798 si unit. they will be mounted next to each other.
    I have heard that they can be connected so they share info. But I don't know what info would be shared and what benifit it would be?
    BTW, I read something about SI unit needs different trans for high speed, but I am not sure my (mat 12) transducer will work with it..??

    not sure about the info sharing but i have one transducer setup on my 998. humminbird does offer a high speed transducer that you can use to. with the one transducer that i use 45 mph seems to be my top reliable speed ,but i can reach speeds to 50 but not all of the time. heres a picture of transducer location and a snapshot in use.( oh by the way the processor does a very good job with the navionics card. 65 mph is about as fast as i run and the navigation screen keeps me updated at all zoom levels even down to the 10 ft. scale )

    Its on a little tracker.. 35 top end (maybe)
    I really don't know, but I though just I read a post of yours saying the transducer was different on the 798ci-si and 998 si ?
    ( so much reading, info overload-- this was my reason to post just on my units)
    edit: BTW thanks for info Kosmo, you really help out alot of people here!

    I just thought of way it could help
    My matrix12 has on front panel--GPS capable-- S0,, I wonder if it can be used to display the GPS (info from 798) and the 798 just show SI?
    ( or vice-versa)

    i properly should leave the technical stuff about these transducers and such to the experts like humminbird greg. all that i can really do is show you my setup and comment on it. i will go on to say that im very pleased with my humminbird units that ive got and really appreciate the help that ive got from the humminbird community and i try to give back as best that i can. now rickie just posted that huminbird greg is starting vacation, his wife properly not going to let him on the computer.

    Kosmo;

    do you have your 'ducer on the "step" under your transom on your boat ?? Did you mount it in the normal way, drilling a hole ??
    GO BIG ORANGE !

    I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

    heres a tip . if you do mount your transducer in similar fashion . if your not getting readings at high speeds,tilt the back of the transducer down.
