I am en-route to Big Bear KY. I will try the soft/hard resets recommended by Lowrance, but I remain skeptical.

Sounds like a miner software glich to me.should be able to fix in a software update
HDS8 with insight maps will zoom in to 20 feet with 1 or 2 panels displayed. HDS8 with Navionics map chip will only zoom to 50 foot with one or two panels, but will only zoom to 100 ft with 3 or 4 panels open.
HDS7 with base maps (after soft reset) will zoom to 20 feet. When the Navionics chip is installed, it will only zoom to 100 ft
After removing the Navionics chip, I could only zoom to 50 foot with base map. Had to soft reset to zoom back to 20 foot.
This 50/100 ft zoom limitation ain't worth a chit for crappie finding. Not happy. No zoom problems with my 10 inch Garmin 3210 GPS or my 2 inch Garmin 76.
Billbob will be joining me at Ky lake tomorrow. We have 2 HDS7 and 2 HDS8 with various maps that we will check out and compare.
