That is the Ethernet connector for your 898c Si unit. The wrong drawing was used in the manual. Attached should be a page from the Ethernet manual showing this connector on the 800, 900 and 1100 series Humminbird units.

After seeing a post on CC with a 898 connected to a monitor i got to looking an my 898. I have a connector in the middle that is is not in the manual. Wondering what is for and why is it not in the manual.
Also would lke to know what cable i need to use to connect to tv or monitor.

Right now the RS-232 connector is only used for connection to an AIS system (Automatic Identification System). Your operations manual should explain what this is and the menus you would see when you have one connected to your 898c Si unit.
