    hey guys hooked my 998 up in my office boat in shop for 3 week, was wandering can i hook everything up including transducer. So i can go ahead and do a system test (unit new out of box), and so i can go ahead and do my system update. i would also like to play with unit so i learn a little, and use navionics card i bought, some fast help would be great

    Yes you can...

    Here's good info on updating your unit....notice in the video Robert is updating his unit on his desk with the unit in "Simulation" mode"...

    How do I download Software to my HB Unit using MMC/SD card?

    Also, be aware that "Simulation" mode is different than "Point of Sale" mode....you must select "Simulation" mode when the 3 choices come up on your screen after powering on your unit....any settings changed in "Simulation" mode will be saved into the memory...any settings changed in "Point of sale" mode will NOT be saved into memory....

    I'm not sure an update can be performed in "Point of sale" mode...so force your unit into "Simulation" mode after it powers on....

    If you power on your unit and do not select "Simulation" mode... the unit will load itself into "Point of Sale" mode.....

    I spent many hours learning in "Simulation" mode when I first bought my 1197...
