Default New to the world of fancy electronics and needing to pick out a few.

I'm new to this forum and I'm boat pricing right now and I need to get an electronics package together but I'm not even sure what I want/need. I also tend to be pretty anti-technology, so you may have to read from the book of Sonar for Dummies. Now I think I know what I want but I'm not sure what I need to make them function together. I'm for sure wanting an HDS-10 as a bow mount and I'm thinking just an HDS-5 for a console mount. However I'm not sure what I would need or what it would take to have them function together. I saw some little thing in the Bass Pro catalog that looked like an amp that said it was for networking the HDS units but will the 10 and 5 network together with that? I also saw they had different options on the units such as insight usa or us basemap and 83/200kHz or 50/200kHz. I have no clue what that is or what I would need. I'd appreciate any input you can give me on what it would take, or if you have any better suggestions on units to get. One of my friends at work rants like crazy about his hummingbird units.

You will need the structure scan unit the LSS to network the two units and an Ethernet cable or two. You will get a short Ethernet cable with the LSS about 3-4', so it depends on where you mount the structure scan unit as to the length of cables you need. If you can mount the SS unit under the dash, you will only need one cable to run to the bow graph. Buying two units will make the Lowrance less money than the HB. HB is less for a single setup.

I sell these graphs, and boats also. May have something you need. I sell Xpress and Excel, and have several used rigs too. PM me with your best deal, maybe I can save you a few bucks. You can call me anytime.
We only sell the Best. Ranger, Xpress, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu.

With the Structure Scan package will come a 15ft. ethernet cable. YOu will only need one more 6ft. cable which you can use for your console unit to have a fully networked boat. Both HDS units will share GPS coordinates, sonar, temp and Structure Scan imaging. Give me a call if you would like to discuss what all the different options are and how Humminbird compares to Lowrance. I sell both and can give you some good "insight"

I called my dealer and talked to him and he got the whole functioning package figured up for me with the Lowrance. I just hope it don't take forever to learn how to use it. That and I dread waiting to finish paying off my pickup before I can drop some cash on a new boat.
