    Default Minn Kota Maxxum concern

To say I'm tough on equipment just might be aDoh understatement. That's why I have 2 trollingThumbs Up motors. The Minn Kotas have trully been work horsesHands Clapping & failed ONLY when I done it(bent shafts). After 4 years of use,,, I broke a steering cable. I switch out motors & decided to try to repair myself. Ordered parts & got both cables. It came with a kit & instructions. As I was dissassembling,, I noticed 'BOTH' power wires burnt at their connections. Almost to the point of open wires. These are factory connections. I cut both & reconnected with a butt connector, not a slide-in. Sheilded with shrink tube. Opened up the other trolling motor head & found Dohthe same thing. Now, should I repair the same or should I solder it then shield it? <*)}}}><

Solder, then dual wall or triple wall heat shrink. If rub area is real bad, use spiral wrap if possible.
