    Default Hummingbird 570 di problems

I am having no luck with my 570 di on the front of my boat. The transducer is mounted to the trolling moter. It works about 50% of the time. It seems to quit working mainly in shallow water, 10 ft or less and when I use the trolling motor. But it does quit working while not using the trolling motor.

What is does is read the wrong depth and the screen is cluttered. It also may read the right depth but use the wrong depth of water column. The actual depth may be 10 ft and it read that, but it uses 100 ft on the screen and you can't see any structure.

Been on phone twice with Hummingbird. First they had me move transducer wire away from any other electrical wires and change noise filter setting to high. This seemed to help some. They are sending me a filter to install. I sure hope that fixes the problem. The representative stated that other customers are having similar problems.

Is anyone else having similar problems? If so did you get one of these filters and did it work?

Take a look at this Brian. It may be the same thing that Kenny 12 was having with his 596 c hd di. It was going crazy in shallow water. See post number 43.

Ozarkian, Thanks for the link. The problems are very similar. My unit seemed to act up in depths of 12 ft or less the most. I will give these settings a try.

I have a similar setup as Brian with the 570 di mounted on the bow and the tranducer mounted on the trolling motor. I have the unit wired to a dedicated
lawnmower battery so that it is the only thing on that battery. My problem is that the unit will be working correctly then all of a sudden the depth reading will
change to a deeper depth reading and start continously blinking. The displayed will also be acting up, I can run through several display modes and correct it and
sometimes I have to shut the unit down, let it reset, and turn it back on. These are only temporary fixes as will eventually act up again. The problem seems to
be happening in the 10 foot depth range and it does not matter if I am using the trolling motor or not because I have had happen in either case. Sometimes it
will only take a few minutes to start happing and other times it might take up to 30 mins. before it starts acting up. When the unit is working properly it is
great and I love it, but it also annoying to have this problem. Also this problem has occured from the first time I took it to the lake.

Ditto! Same is happening with my setup. Even when trolling motor not running, depth will go haywire in shallow water. Only thing I haven't done is actually unplug the Terrova so there is no power light lit.

    Thumbs up Tyler2

Brian, I had the same trouble as you with my 570DI when I had it wired to a standard battery, So I wired it to a 8 amp SLA battery and have not had any trouble since. You will need a 500MA charger to charge the battery. I was informed of this by a boat mechanic in Louisville. Hope this helps you.
