Advie from a gewb. LOL GPS Antenna not connecting

If you're having problems with your HBird GPS Puck and it won't get a signal. Make sure and check the main causes of why it won't get a signal. 1 cause is the pigtial at the Fish Finder. The end cap is there for a reason, to keep things tight so the wires won't slide out and touch. If those wires touch, you're grounded out the Puck and you won't get a signal. That was the first thing that happened to me. Mine came aloose and grounded out, so no GPS Signal. You're unit will say, GPS UNCONNECTED when you do a diagnostic on it. The latest reason I found was water had gotten into my puck somehow. Yeh there's a rubber seal between the top and bottom halves but water got in there anyways. I'm fixing to put silicon on it everywhere to stop that problem. What the water did was corrode the little connectors so bad on one of them it ate ALL the metal away. Same result on a diagnostic, GPS UNCONNECTED. NO ONE in town had the connectors so I soldered the wire to the posts and it's working like a charm now. Just passing along some info from the problems and fixes I've had SO FAR in the last year n a half

A'ite, ya'll are my witnesses. He admitted up front that he's a gewb with no prompting from me whatsoever. Congrats DD, the first step is to admit you have a problem, which, come to think of it, you've always been pretty good at. Unfortunately, it's every step after that gives you the trouble.
