You will want to check out the Navionics cards ....they are the only brand that will work with your unit....

For Ky and Barkley you will need the South card....

I use the Premium because I didn't need all the bells and whistles of the Platinum and I hear that the Platinum will slow the unit down using up so much processor speed.....
NAVIONICS: The Leader in Electronic Charts

HB recommends the Sandisk Extreme III SD card...because of industry standards that Sandisk uses...

I use the Sandisk Extreme III 20mbps...but I think they are even available at 30mbps...(the faster the write speed, the faster your unit will respond in saving snapshots and recordings)....

Size of card is optional...Hb will use even the biggest..which I think is a 32GB.....

I keep 5 cards with my unit at all times....SD cards are cheap enough to not need to skimp here...
1 for previous version of software
1 for present version of software
1 for past snapshots and recordings
1 for today's snapshots and recordings
    1 for an extra

The 998 will work with the Navionics cards AND the Lake Master cards... From what i have read the Lake Master cards are unbelievable.. I would go with Lake Master if they have your lake. In the southern states... all we have are navionics which are real good also. Humminbird owner Johnson Outdoors bought the Lake Master company this year... You should see big things from them...
