Default Anybody installed an HDS TM ducer on a Terrova?

I have the Universal Sonar, but think little of the transducer's capabiltiy. Was wanting to mount the regular transducer to the foot of the motor and use the trick that's been posted here where the cable is run through the steering housing on the Terrova. Anybody done this or attempted it? Was wondering whether the diameter of the cable is going to give me any trouble. I seem to recall the diameter on the H'bird SI units (798 - 1198) was an issue, but non SI H'birds weren't. Can't seem to remember anyone saying they had any trouble trying it with Lowrance units.

Anyhow, it's way too hot to get out there without a good plan in place.

This is probably the link you are looking for:
    http://www.crappie.com/crappie/fishi...cer-mount.html

According to the link, the HDS wire was too big and the HB wire worked great. I know the HB wire works cause I the glue just dried on mine last night and I put it back together this morning. I will post some pictures later on. The terrova with US2 has a total of four wires that you must disconnect before you can remove the shaft but they are all quick connectors so it is easy to disconnect and reconnect them...

It's times like these when I'm really glad I have a large vocabulary and can use "crap" in a sentence properly.

    Crap.

Guess I'll do a V2ish install then. Really want to avoid the US ducer, if nothing else for experimental purposes.

Yeah Double, I've pulled and installed a shaft on a Terrova a couple of times. Even with the I-Pilot, it's pretty simple.

I use the us2 and have the skateboard transducer mounted on the motor. That big Lowrance cable reminds me of the colonscopy cable. You know where the can put both of them.

I'm gonna mount the Side Scan ducer on the jackplate and run it through the LSS1 so I can output it to the front unit, but I really wish to avoid using the US2 for the front unit, at least initially. Might tear it off or snag the cable, but I can always just get an adapter later if need be. Not going to try and run the Side Scan off the TM, just want to use the regular 2D transducer for the front unit.

Dunno. Might get to start on it tonight. Killing me to have all that $ sitting in a box in my office for 2 weeks mocking me.

I'm surprised your experience with your universal sonar on your terrova was not good. My Terrova with US2 gives me much better sonar images than the original lowrance transom mount transducer did mounted on my Trolling motor. I had to go into the settings, and set up the hds to accept the ducer. I think I just used the generic 83/200 setting.
