I gave less than $500 for my Humminbird 788C on eBay. It's a pre-side scan model but the GPS and fishfinder are great.

Looking to upgrade on the fish finder that came with my Tracker 170TX. Not techno savy so looking for something easy to use. Would like GPS included and something that you can trust on what its showing under and and/or around the boat. Needs to be in the $500 range. Any advice would be appreciated. The one that came with my boat i pretty much use to know the depth I'm in and to find structure I put in (which takes forever with what i have). Would like something that when I see new structure or fish I can be sure thats what i'm seeing.

I just got an Eagle Fishelite 480....love it. Well under 5 bills too.
The GPS is really accurate & keeps signal very well.
Not a huge screen, not color, but does exactly what I want it to for a good price.
The menus & settings are pretty intuitive & not hard to navigate at all.
Also accepts Navionics maps cards - a bonus because I can use all the previously marked waypoints from my handheld.
(need a MicroSD card adapter to fit in SD slot thought - under $10)
Best 'cheap' finder out there IMHO.
If you ever get hit with a bucket of fish, be sure to close your eyes.
