Default A great panfish application for Humminbird Side Imaging

I've been able to enjoy some rapid fire White Bass action recently on the Mississippi River. These schooling fish gather in large numbers to chase young-of-the-year shad, often near or on the surface. Humminbird Side Imaging provides excellent opportunities to stay on these schools, and pick off the active, larger fish on the periphery of the school rather than the hyper-aggressive (and often smaller) fish involved in the surface action.

The article at this link provides some insights, a number of wonderful Side Imaging screen captures that illustrate the power of the technology to identify suspended fish in open water, and some really entertaining video. Turn up the volume to enjoy the sounds from all the surface feeding fish!

Jason, we have that going on at my home lake right now too. It's a blast chasing the school and having them hammer anything you throw at them. I got one that went close to eight pounds a couple years ago, on four pound test. Had to use the trolling motor to chase him down or he'd have spooled me. What a blast.

    Don G,
Did I remember correctly you upgraded to an 898? If so how do you like it? did it improve your success?

Nothing will really justify the $$$, if you want an upgrade just go buy it.

First time out with the 1198 since I traded up from the 898. I got to say I love it. The bigger screen is worth the extra $$$. You can display so much more info and see more detail at wider scanning distances. We found some good fish... take a look at all these stripers...
