I put "shorting out" in quotes b/c I don't know what else to call it.

Sometimes while operating the trolling motor, I'll try and execute a turn (with the foot control), and it will just cut off. Then if I go farther that way or back the other, it will come back on. Eventually I can get it to steer in the direction I want, but it's just a pain.

I don't know where to start looking. I haven't tried disassembling the foot control. Is that the first place to start? What should I look for? I don't even know what the guts of one look like, but I thought I'd ask here before tearing into it.

Have any of you had this problem? I'd appreciate any thoughts.
