CP I just checked voltage at bat. it was 12.8 plug up front for HDS was 12.8 Maybe the hds is off on the voltage reading. I cant see the unit pulling it down 2 volts.

The 10.1 was a check with no load and not having any load on the system for 15 minutes. I was also checking with a voltmeter on the terminals. The battery was starting to discharge rather quickly when being used during the course of the day. The battery charger failed and I managed to get a nice new experiment, with a 4 year old battery. I still don't trust the new battery charger and test the voltage before every outing.
I would expect the no load voltage to be the same as the source voltage. Without a load, you cannot read the loss. I believe the HDS and HB have about a 1 amp load, so a 12 ohm 12w resistor would simulate the units as a load.Quote:

Dunno, but I have a 12v TM with the battery within 2' of it. I have 8 gauge wire feeding the TM. I can run a fully charged battery down in about 6 hours of on and off usage. I've never ran one down completely, but have experienced very slow steering and very low prop movement when this happens. Is why I now have an extra fully charged marine battery on board with a set of jumper cables to back up my TM or my main battery.Quote:
