    Default Lowrance lss-1 and transducer

Guys I just got my structure scan in and going to put it on the boat but before I do I wanted to ask a couple questions

1 I dont have to keep the old transducer mounted to the boat that came with my hds5 correct.

2 Where is the best location to mount the structure scan Im thinking under the step and not use the bracked to screw it flush mount.

3 can anyone give me a good starting point on how my structure scan needs to be set up most of my fishing will be 30 ft or less mostly in the 12 to 6 ft range.

    Thanks James

Yes you still need both transducers. The original is for 2d, LSS-1 sor side and down.

Set the transducer mode to shallow water and fish it will give you a better picture. You will love that thing

No you don't. As soon as the boat planes, you lose SS images.

Even with a conventional transom mount, I can only get usable SS images up to about 20mph.

Check and see if your unit has the 3.5 installed, if not go to the Lowrance site and download the 3.5 update.
Under the step is the 2nd best area to install, jack plate would be the best
Sorry I dont remember my SS settings, IM/PM Gilstrap, or he will be along shortly with your answer.
Have fun, you will love it.

Use the 2d ducer for high speed and switch over to the SS for idling and works best @ 3 to 5mph

Thanks guys now if the rain will let up I can get everthing installed I hope I like the side image with all the money that it costs.

Another question if I buy another data cable and run it up frount then I can use the down scan or side image with my u2 as the 2d sonar or when Im useing my 722 I can hook up the data port and share wave points correct.

The side/down scan will only work with HD units. Any other unit does not have the software to accept the ss. Im not sure on the 722 but it will share way points with the x units thru the E cable.
