Default 799-- arrow and boat icon point north, most of the time

The thread was closed where I asked this question last week

On the birds eye page, The boat icon
and the directional arrow point north most of the time, regardless of
direction of travel. I called HB, the lady said she thought that issue
had been dealt wth and would check and call me back. No Call,
I have the most current update installed.

Stymie-- I have the unit set as north up.

Anybody else have this issue ?

Mo I had the same problem, even sent it back to HB twice and it still did it. I had them send me a external antenna (gps puck) and it cleared it right up. I like an external antenna anyway so I can get it closer to the transducer on the TM. The antenna was free btw. To select an external antenna you will find it under networking, not under the nav. tab as before. I am assuming this is a 789c SI HD.

    MO,
Which model 798 do you have? Is it the new 798ci HD Si Combo or one of the older 798ci Si Combo units (no Ethernet connector).
Does this only happen when moving below a specific speed or all of the time regardless of speed?

It is the 2011 version, ethernet ready , It is on the bow which means trollling motor speed, but fast enough to have the boat icon, not the
donut. sometimes the arrow will flick to the right direction for a few seconds then back north. I don't remember if the boat icon is
staying with the arrow or not. Even at the highest speed for my Tm ( 1.5 mph or so) the arrow pegged due north most of the time.

Maybe next time out I will disconnect the antenna from the 1197 and hook it up to the 798 and see if that fixes it.

You have probably already tried, but my friends did the same thing and the newer firmware release fixed it.

BRB is right MO. That should have been taken care of in the 5.410 version software.
