    Talltimber,
Check your Humminbird account as the 5.400 software for your 788ci should be there. Load it to your 788ci unit and the 5.410 software for your 998c Si unit and they should work over the InterLink. Disconnect both units from the InterLink while you are loading the software and than power both units off. Connect whichever unit was connected to the Port 1 connector on the InterLink and power that unit on. Allow it to update the InterLink and than you should be able to connect the other unit and everything work.

Any of the 700 series units that have the “HD” designation in their model numbers are Ethernet capable: 798ci HD Si, 788ci HD DI, 788ci HD, 778c HD.
[None of the 500 series unit can use the Ethernet.]

The Ethernet connector is on the back-bottom of the unit just like the connectors have always been on these units. This allows the use of our quick disconnect unit mount system. Since this connector is shaped differently than the other unit connectors; we had to change the connector collector parts that hold the cable connectors into the unit mount. The non-Ethernet units will not plug into these mounts without changing out the connector collector parts.

Ok, will do. Thanks Greg for making your rounds. It will be tomorrow before I can try it. I'll post my results. Just checked, and I do have it.

I like that the different cable ends are configured differently. That's a good deal. Someone was using their old noggin on that.

They seem to be working properly now. I'll know for sure tomorrow or at least by Saturday.

Thanks Greg, they are working fine with the interlink now. Question though, does this update have a history of effecting the speed display on the 788ci? It was jumping around yesterday and I haven't noticed it doing that before? 8mph, 2.5 mph, all over, with the ipilot reporting 0.7 mph. This is just one example of course.
