Hey guys,
I just got my first humminbird fishfinder/gps unit for my boat this past week.
Got a question: Which gps mapping software would be the best for me to use?
I live in Mississippi and I mainly fish Okatibbee Reservoir, but I might eventually
travel to other lakes/rivers in the state.
Thanks in advance, Joey
You meaning what mapping card for your 597ci HD DI unit Joey?
For that area of the U.S.A. your only choice would be the Navionics mapping cards. The 597ci HD DI should be able to use their HotMaps or Premium HotMaps cards. You will need to look at the listings for what lakes are covered on the Navionics web site as neither the listing for their South region HotMaps nor the South region Premium HotMaps list Okatibbee as being in their High-Definition format. This means that the coverage of this lake may not contain a lot of detail. There may be other lakes that are though so you need to check the lists. I don’t have a current HotMaps or Premium HotMaps card but someone else may and could see how well the lake is covered for you. Maybe send you or post some screen snapshots of the lake for you to see what you would be buying.
