    Question Humminbird Greg,Joby, CanePole

Question, do the 565, 161 and the 768 use the same transducer. I know that the 565 and the 768 are dual beam and the 161 is single beam, but I've been told that the 161 will work on the transducer for the 565. Just got a 768 and was wondering about this because if they all use the same TD then I won't have to change them and it'll make wiring easier.
    thanks

thanks C&C that's what I thought, I was told that the single or double beam was controlled by the head unit.

That’s right wannebe. Both the transducer and head unit have to be capable of the additional frequencies and sonar beams for them both to work. We use the same DualBeam transducer even on our single beam units to save everyone money. It’s just with the single beam units they lack the circuitry needed to get the second 83kHz frequency out of the transducer. Most of our units that are non-Si and non-DI sonar units use the same transducer.
