The main purpose in getting SI is to find more brush/structure. You can find just as much with you present unit as with the DI, You can just see it a little better. with the SI you will find 10 times as much. Save your money until you can get the real deal, SI.
Tommy, about an hour.
DI will show you there is brush in the sonar beam somewhere under the boat's xducer...
SI will show you which side of the boat it is on......

Well when I first got my 1197 the DI upgrade was not out, I really liked the SI, but I fish standing timber most of the time and you can't run at the speed needed for SI :( So when DI came alone I upgraded and I love it for the way I fish. But when looking for open water fish and cover you can't beat the SI. :D

Telling cover from bait balls is real easy, I still have trouble telling fish schools from bait balls. But with HB if you go SI you get all three. Thumbs UpQuote:
