    Question Humminbird 998 transducer question

the transducers are meant to "break-away" when you hit an object, when i had the old 798 transducer, it would break away rather easy when i wacked it with my hand. the 998 transducer is alot harder to break away, i can't even do it with my hand....is this normal?

It can be. The amount of force to break away the HDSi transducer is all dependant on how much tension the sides of the metal bracket place on the black plastic pivot arm, of the transducer. If you are concerned that it is too much, than just bend the dies of the metal bracket away from each other. Don’t think that is holding it well enough? Just bend the sides of the metal; bracket in towards each other to increase the tension.
