Since the rabates are on I was looking at the lake insight. My question is if I dont like the maps insight has can I buy a navionics chip to put in this unit and view navionics instead of insight. Also can this unit record things with a s/d card. Thanks

Yes you can use a map chip instead of the Insight if you want. You can record screenshots and waypoints to a card as well.

I have 2 HDS5 insight units. The maps are adequate for the lakes I fish. This unit has one card slot, keep that in mind as you'll be switching out every time you want to record, or take a screenshot if you go without insight.

Thanks for the info guys. Since this has been a long cold winter my wife told me I could shed a few pounds and I told her when I get this gps I can start catching more fish to eat healthy.

that wont work unless your wife is really slow, get the 7 or 8 you wont be sorry, you wont be sorry with the 5, but I sure was glad I got the 8

????HDS8 allows you to select record sonar log to internal memory or SD memory and snapshot always goes to internal memory???
