    Default Humminbird 998 question.

I was planning on mounting only the transom mount transducer. My question is. Will it hurt the unit to be powered on when on plane if the transducer is out of the water. If so I guess I'll need a in hull transducer as well. I would appreciate some advice. Thanks...

It sure won't. Think about all the guys that have bow mounted units with the transducer on the trolling motor: not all of them turn them off when running to the next honey hole.
