charger?

I bought a single bank charger last year when I bought my boat. im looking to upgrade my fishfinders and my trolling motor to a couple hds units and 80# 24 volt i-pilot mk. Do i need a different charger? Also I know my outboard charges my cranking battery when its running. Is there some way to charge the other batteries the same way? I currently have a 12 volt trolling motor and hb fishfinders at console and bow all from 2006 when the boat was new. Its a lowe sea nymph aprox 15 ft. in length. Is 80 lb thrust too big? The boat has a old round glass style fuse bank under the console does this need to be upgraded to something else as well? I know too many ???? thank you in advance for any help on any of my ??

You are unlikely to get much benefit trying to charge TM batteries from the outboard. Crappie fishing doesn't usually have the long runs you need for charging, and I doubt your OB has a big alternator anyway. I'd recommend you get a 3-bank if you are going to a 24V TM, since the cranking battery needs to be maintained off the water as well.

If you aren't having problems with the fuses, I wouldn't mess with them.

Check the wire size for your TM battery leads and the breaker size. Those may need upgrading for the new TM.

Yes, a 3 bank would be the proper way to go.

3 bank 10amp using wet batteries and 15amp using agm.
You can always turn the motor down, but there is only so high it will go. Always go with more than you think you will need. The HD units will eat some power, check the size of your cranking battery, if it is a group 24 it will not be big enough to handle the units

brushinjigs thanks alot! your reply was very helpfull. I know the current cranking battery is a inerstate brand, but don't know if its a group 24 or what it is. Was planning on buying all new batteries when i start the install anyway. would have sucked to buy a new one and find out after the fact it wasn't up to the job. Have read on here that when buying a new trolling motor you should go bigger then you think you need, but have also heard you can go too big. I think the 80 will work good. Thanks again.

Your 2006 HB finders probably draw more power than the HDS units. Display technology has improved and HDS units draw less power than previous Lowrance color units
