Guys,
I have a 1650 Xpress with a 50lb minnkota foot controlled TM. It was mounted with minnkota screws with the expanding rubber nuts. I replaced them, but the motor still bounced wildly while underway. Anyone have a solution to this prob? Any ideas?

what i did with mine was to weld a 1.5 inch c-channel frame with the openings facing the outside to the bow where you will mount your trolling motor. drill holes thru the top and thru-bolt it. easy install and firmly placed.
beautiful welds there jesse.
I like that, good idea.
Thanks for the replies!
Jesse, really like that idea. Kind of what i had in mind, but how is the aluminum "mount" attached to the boat? That is where I was having problems. Did you thru bolt the mount to the boat or the motor to the mount? I doubt if I can reach my hand that far into the front storage compartment to get nuts on bolts there.

weld mount to deck of boat, thru bolt trolling motor to aluminum frame
It was on a fiberglass boat with no forward access but we used stainless butterfly molly bolts. Bigger hole than he liked, but we put some non hardening gasket sealer on the threads to stop them from loosening from vibration, but could still get them out if needed. About $20 for the 4 bolts. I couldn't improve on Jessie's work though, top shelf. I made a smaller version out of 1/8 tread plate for a 40lb power drive on a 16' stick boat I had, and it lasted OK, but it really wasn't heavy enough. Mine was a baby version of Jessie's. You can see where I caught a dock wrong and tore the one fold about an inch. Foam underneath prevented through bolting so it had 8 big stainless screws holding it down. That's Homer in the drivers seat.
