A fluxgate compass add on to the unit via the Interlink or nmea 0183 would be fine with me if it had a HB screen option.

Hey guys, I was sent an e-mail and asked to comment on this post, so I will. Well… I haven’t read all 31 pages of responses as the thread seems to have changed into a mud-slinging contest and I really do have other things that I am supposed to be doing and so I will make it brief:
Yes the folks that need to be aware of this are now very aware of it. Will there be a solution for this? Is it an easy software update? When will it be ready? I don’t know the answer to these questions.
Thanks Greg, good to know.
To all involved...and not involved (but watching from behind the scenes)...
I certainly hope we can keep this thread from the "near brink of disaster" that it almost morphed itself into...
"Project HB Donut" has never been intended to vet fisherman against fisherman.....
Let me state (once again) the 2 simple goals.....
1. Identify the facts relating to the causes/effects of the HB "Donut"...
2. Open a venue of discussion for people that may be hindered by the "Donut" in their preferred tactics and techniques of using the HB chartplotter product....or how that "Donut" affected their decision in their purchase of a sonar/chartplotter product...
It is not anyone's job (mine nor anyone else's) in this thread to make HB do anything...
The arguing needs to stop...and stay stopped..
We are to focus on the 2 goals above...and the results will take care of itself....
This thread should hold itself to the same high standard that Slab holds this entire website to....if a kid can't read it....it shouldn't be posted....
"Project HB Donut" discussions should be an inviting atmosphere where people can feel comfortable to discuss their concern with the HB "Donut".....NOT scared to death to provide their concern by putting themself into the middle of a pack of wolves.....
There are more people out there who want their concern heard....
Just because we invite more people to voice their concern does not make it "beating the dead horse".....
Telling their story will not hurt, coerse, nor threaten anyone....
Let them speak without retribution....
Rickie (an almost satisfied HB owner)
cane pole,
"Any idea which particular Ublox chipset HB uses?"
Ublox 5 was the one if I remember correctly. One of the first 50 multiplexed channel receivers. My short term memory bank has refresh problems.
I looked up the specs on this chip several years ago. I believe it is discontinued and has been replaced with the Ublox 6. I can't confirm this as fact. It is a real "hot dog" receiver though.
I will try to be a good boy Mr. Bill.:)
I do not understand about the opposition to us trying to get an issue resolve, which was pointed out at the beginning.. You would think that fellow fishermen would align themselves and support this project out of respect for their fellow fishermen. After all, isn't this what this forum is about? Maybe I have the wrong impression about collective help and knowledge on c.com....
This fix would not harm anyone's personal ability or technique to troll, etc. and would help other fellow fishermen with their fishing technique. Holycow!!!!!!
Speaking from the heart, I feel that I have helped a lots of folks here with problems, but when I have sought support for this repair/fix over a period of several years, I have been demonized , criticized, and all other izeds and have tolerated it. Just wanted to remind a few of this fact. Tom ain't no crawdad.
