Well....I have been to the Humminbird site three days in a row now trying to register my 898c SI and see if I need any updates and it will not let me register......something is wrong with the site. I e mailed HB about it and I have recieved three automated emails back saying they will answer me when they can.

There's another thread about the 2011 features. This update has those features. Also has an IP address feature, but not sure if it does anything since I don't have an ethernet connection.

Basically, if I remember correctly, those features include turning off the water column on SI, zoom on DI, and range lines on SI. I didn't get to play with any of these as I was busy catching stumps.

I had some interlink problems this morning, not sure if its related to the update.

G3...when you try to log in be sure and tick the actual "Login" button after typing in your user and password ....and do not just hit enter on your keyboard....

I don't know why this is but this "Login" button is the only way it will let me in....

I installed it on my 998 last weekend and played with a few recordings. The contour off tool looks neat but I'm not sure what it might be doing as far as distorting what's being shown on the bottom. I'm going to get back in the boat tonight and see if I can turn on the SI range lines while in contour off mode. If they'll show in that mode they might give some indication as to how the bottom is being stretched or not.

Here's some interesting discussion on that query...
