humminbird updates

I just registered my new 597ci hd combo and it shows it having available updates. humminbird pc version 3.20 and ff597cihd version 5.010 does anyone know what these are and should i do them. this is my first humminbird unit in many years. THANKS Frank

The HumminbirdPC download is the latest version of a program that some use to help manage their waypoints, tracks and routes (including saving them on their computer), view these on Google Earth, personalize their units, and download software updates.

The ff597cihd version 5.010 is for your unit. I would check and see what software is on your 597ci HD unit now as I suspect that you will not need it as it should match because these are pretty new units. Do this by connecting only the power cable to your unit and turn it on. While it is still showing the title screen (Humminbird 597ci HD) press the MENU button and wait for it to show you three menu options (Normal, Simulator, System Status) and than select “System Status”. Allow the unit to complete starting up and you should be looking at a screen like is shown on page 68 of your operations manual. This shows the current software in your unit. If it is the same or higher than you do not need to load it.
