    Looking at buying a new unit. Notice some come as basic and some with lake insight. Would it be better to buy the base model and add Nav platinum or just buy the model with insight. Appreciate any feedback from those that have seen both.

    I would just get the Nav Plat. You will probably save some money also.

    The Insight is cheaper on the HDS-5. Only costs $50 extra because the 5 can't do some of the fancier display tricks.

    The Insight chip is available separately for about the same cost as having it built in.

    One other consideration is that the 5 and 7 only have one slot, so you have to remove the map card to copy things on and off the unit.
