    Default Down scan recommendations

Looking at getting a down scan unit. Probably going to stay with Lowrance, but who knows. Give me your opinions and reasons for it. Thanks.

Below is a diagram of the Lowrance DSI sonar beams...(Lowrance DSI units are DI only or DI/GPS)...
455kHz: approx 70degrees (side to side)
800kHz: approx 50degrees (side to side)

Below is a diagram of the HB DI sonar beams...(HB DI units are 2d/DI or 2d/DI/GPS)...

While both brands have comparable DI sonar beam shapes in the 455kHz and 800kHz frequencies, HB DI units also add 2 coneshaped 2d sonar beams...

Some users find DI as a replacement for 2d.... While other users find DI as a compliment to 2d...
