man.....thats a bummer!
An update to bump back to the top. I recommend anyone with Interlink and a non-ethernet unit not update a unit with ethernet with version 5.210 at this time.
I got a response from Humminbird that I will have to step back from 5.210 on the 858 to 4.9xx for Interlink to work with the 997. The 858 was able to step back but the Interlink did not reprogram. Shipped Interlink to Humminbird for reprogramming or replacement.
I will say that Humminbird Customer Service has been very responsive in trying to help me solve my issue. I hope they are just as fast and responsive in servicing the Interlink.
I will update again after I get the Interlink back.
Great info. Hopefully they'll note this on the website so more users don't have the same issue. Glad they are taking care of you.
Panman,
I heard that you should be getting a new InterLink any time now…
Got it today and installed it. Everything is working as it should after a few growing pains. Only connected Interlink to 997 as unit 1. Interlink Reprogrammed which surprised me since I requested it be programmed with the same software version on my units (4.995 Beta). The Interlink disconnected from the 997 just after reprogramming but reconnected and I was able to set the 997 to fully participate in the network. Connected 858 as unit 2 and powered it up. Was able to set it to fully participate in the network. I chose to keep data from the network and overwrite data on the 858. What I ended up with was double waypoints. Tried to use 997 to clear all data from network and start over but Interlink disconnected and would not reconnect.
Put 997 on Interlink as unit 2 and it was happy. 858 on Interlink as unit 1 and it was happy but I got triple waypoints. I was able to erase nav data and let 997 reload network. Was able to create waypoints on one unit and delete it from the other. The 858 appears to have more advanced Interlink capabilities so I guess it gets to be unit 1.
