    Default HDS8 Guage Page pics

Ok, I am gonna fire these gauges up with the NMEA 2000 Yamaha engine cable.

I always worry about water pressure since I have a jack plate installed. I disconnect my water gauge in the winter time to keep it from freezing and breaking. PIA. This panel should solve some problems.

I have my hds set up with nmea 2000 (etech interface). Everything works well cept my volt pegs out to 18. My analog volt meter on my boat dash board still registers between 12 and 13.5. Called Lowrance and they seem to think my problem is with the interface. I know my cable is laying next to spark plug wires...wondering if that could be messing up the signal. Otherwise, it sure can give you a bunch of info if you have it set up right.

Will be anxious to see how responsive that 4000 is. Kinda waiting for the next generation of hds's to come out with the 4000 as standard equipment. Of course, they would probably have to offer a "better solution" than the current 4000 as a stand alone. Money thing...

Just read an article on Yamaha NMEA 2000. Seems they sell their own dedicated instrument gauges. Seems as though they privatized the NMEA signals, so other devices will not read the Yamaha code.

    Sound familiar?????????

This totally defeats the purpose of NMEA.

Can you not change the voltage range in the INFO page setup?

Does this affect your model motor?

I wonder if this applies to all the Yamaha 4-strokes or just the new models. Mines a 2002 so hopefully they hadn't fooled with the codes way back then.

Something I will look into for sure...correct me if I am wrong but aren't there different "avenues" that a person can monitor insofar as the voltage is concerned? Kinda hard to put in words what I am trying to say....hopefully what I have registering is what the motor is turning out to the battery.....
