Default Lowrance X135 Yes or No???

I am in the market for a new depth/fish finder for next season, so when I got a gift card to Cabela's today, I thought.....hmmmmmm that helps my finder budget. I am limited for this year to something up to 200 bucks.........Well, the Lowrance X135 is on sale. $199......down from $399. To me, that sounds like a no brainer compared to some of the other units in that $200 range.

What are your thoughts? Should I pull the trigger and get it while the gettin's good?

I'm pretty sure the 135 is nearly the same as the 125. I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend you get that one. I have had 3 of them and am VERY tired of going out in the morning and finding it beeping loudly. to say nothing of having the screen start flashing and then the beeping starts again. powering it down will work for a while and then you get to spend 169 dollars for another one that they rebuilt,,,,,then guess what,,,it'll do it again. and don't forget,,,,,, another 169 bucks...HECK NO

I have two of them and they are both good units when you learn how to use it you can see the fish hitting your jig. For $200 you not going to find a better fish finder. john

I have one on the front of the boats troll motor and no complaints here going on my third or fourth year, temp sensor seems to run true when I fish the ohio river and go home and look up the temp on the core of engineers website. Hey camo john what settings are you using to see fish hit your jig. Are you on the flasher mode.

Just a reminder. LCDs can fail if stored under certain conditions. Lowrance recommended to me not to store any LCD unit in an area that exceeds 150 degrees F. I measured the temperature under the canvas cover on my boat in 90 degree weather. The meter read 163 degrees F near the area where my unit mounted. Made a believer out of me. Lowrance replaced my 102C with a 510C at no charge. The 102C was over a year out of warranty. I've told this tale before.

LCD displays do have specifications which we tend to ignore on occasion.

Wow guys! I'm going to get the thing ordered! And some help on how to adjust it to see your jig would be great!

ezgo, Are you saying you mounted your trans directly to the trolling motor? Fill me in! Does that take a special trans? I didn't know how that worked as far as if the troller caused any interference with the unit.

As you guy can prob tell, I am VERY new to boating electronics. My crapper Humminbird works ok, but just not quite good enough. I'm learning enough to where I'm lookin for better info from my finder. Not saying Humminbird is junk, my current unit is just a cheaper unit that is sorta old.

    Thanks a lot everyone!

Ezgo the way I have mine setup the sensitivity most of the time is set from 75%-85%. gray line about65% chart speed maximum fish id off surface clarity off. the main thing is to set the sensitivity where you can see the jigs if you fish with 8ft or 9ft rods at 15ft deep the jig will be in the comb. The way you know it’s the jig your looking at if you jig your rod it will show up as a weave line on the screen and a fish will show up as a line shooting up to the jig. when the line get almost to where the jig is. That when you set the hook. Some fisherman call watching for line jump. it’s the same thing but your seeing it on the screen.

Rockbass. you can mount the transom or the pluck on a trolling motor as for as inference. I run 24v mk and mg variable speeds and I have no trouble with inference but I have stump guards on them that I made. that may the reason because the whole case is grounded. john
