Was in a Cabelas store today and noticed they carry Deka. Salesman says it is their main brand. Z21.

Don't use DEKA, I use Interstate, but I've always been told to use 2 new ones of the same size, type and brand. Just what I've been told?

never used a deka but a friend of mine has a sawmill and farms and he talks highly of them, interstates on the other hand are the worst marine battery i have owned and the walmart batteries will outlast them

Deka and Trojans are very expensive, but they're worth the money. Good warranties and buy the charger they recommend (in size).

I've always heard a new battery needs another new battery when hooked up...but it's HARD doing away with a perfectly good battery.:o Personally, I'd probably go with another Deka like the one I had and hope for the best.

Ive sold both brands over the years. Funny thing is there are only a handful of companies building batteries just different stickers. We sold a battery for years manufactured in Corydon Iowa using Voltmaster name. they were bought by DEKA. Same battery different name. Had far less problems and warranty with them than Interstates. Not sugar coating anything just the plain hard facts. If you are going to 24 volt start with 2 frsh batteries.
