Default Leave it to me to come up with a unique Terrova question

OK, so I cracked my Terrova Shaft. Sent it to an ASC and had it repaired and just got it back last Friday. Was going to re-install Sunday and slid it through the steering box and moved up to the top to install the head. Got to looking and there is no pre-drilled hole for the set screw for the bottom part of the head housing. ????

So.....if I drill it out, do I have to worry about splintering the graphite? Or is there something I should look out for?

Don't know about the shaft Wannabe, but I use high speed dremel and sharp drill bit for drilling carbon fiber panels on my robots. Steady and fast. Works just fine. Also, just shortened up some new 8 foot BnM I got from Grizzly with high speed dremel cutter. Works fine here too.

Good thinking CP. I'll see if I've got a Dremel Bit that will work.

Whatever you do, protect your eyes. That dust is some bad stuff.

Just to update ya'll, I drilled the shaft for the through screw day before yesteday at lunch. No problems at all with splintering. I used a cordless drill and put a pilot hole in with a very small, good bit and then hit it again with a larger one. The graphite didn't chip or splinter at all. It actually just turned to dust as I drilled. Very fine dust. It's some bad stuff though. Got a little on my hand and it felt like fiberglass needles digging in. As CP mentioned, definitely use goggles and be careful about breathing in any dust if you have to cut or drill one of these shafts.
