Does anyone know if it would hurt to use a little Permatex RTV Silicone on selaing a Minn Kota? I ordered seals and o-rings but just thought this may help seal better.

A trolling motor is a small DC ( direct current) motor. I work on electric motors for a living and can tell you in my experience silicone and dc motors dont mix well. May be why they dont put it on from the factory.dc motors have a commutator the brushes ride on, the gases from the silicon affects the commutation.
