My guess is they will stop making this unit because the elite5 is coming in early 2011. This is the new 2D unit.

I have been going back and forth between this unit and another unit in the same price range. I have not pulled the trigger yet, but think I'm going with the Mark 5 Pro. I've been to BPS several times and played with this unit, and it has some pretty cool features, and seems to be a solid little graph.

I doubt that they would stop making them especially since they just started selling them this year. If your talking about the Elite 5 DSI keep in mind that these DSI units will have only down scan and no 2d sonar.

On the other hand, a friend of mine has the Elite 5 (color sonar/gps combo) and it's a nice unit. We downloaded waypoints and trails to and from my HDS unit to his and it was very simple and worked without any problems. I would think that the 5x is just as great just no color and gps.

I have the Mark-5X on my console and I think the resolution is great for a $150 unit, don't lose bottom at 58mph.
