Basically it’s a device used to ‘choke’ or filter out unwanted Radio Frequency (RF) signals. They are made for a specific radio frequencies so you have to know what frequency is causing the problem. Here is a picture of a PC-11 with a built in RF choke (that’s the lump).

Ok thanks guys. I have a fishfinder that shows fish no matter what I do. I know that it is not on simulator mode and I have tried every setting I know and had several other people try it. But the problem continues. The unit is an Eagle 642. It is hooked to the cranking battery and the unit is at the console with the transducer on back. Could this be what I need to solve my problem? I dont have any other electronics on my console if that makes a diff. Thanks

have u adjusted sensitivity or adjusted your noise filter it should be somewhere under options

I have to the best of my ability. To get it to stop reading junk the sensitivity has to go down to like 40 and then it doesnt show brush or anything. I have put the noise filter on anywhere from off to high.

Clean your transducer. I do this on a regular basis. Dirty transducer causes you to set wrong sensitivity. The dirty transducer is a source of all evils. It may look clean, but it ain't. Clean it regularly.

I have a brand new one on. The first one was doing it and I had an extra one that was brand new so I put it on and am having the same problem.
