I agree with PanMan. However, with the Lowrance, you can have different .usr files on the sd card and upload your choice. With Humminbird, it is all or nothing with the upload from the SD.
Before I upload .usr files, I delete what is on the unit and upload what I select. This prevents waypoint mergers. Of course, I always save stuff before I delete anything. Habit. You can also name/rename your saved files with the Lowrance too.
thanks fellas for all the info....heres what I found through your alls help and it works exactly as I need......EasyGPS - FREE GPS Software for your Garmin, Magellan, or Lowrance GPS ..........thanks again all....will be buying the new finder soon and will prob be asking more questions.....thanks again all God bless.....
You and I work waypoints on the Lowrance the same way. I prefer to have a file on the SD card for each place I fish. That is not currently possible on a Humminbird.
EasyGPS shows waypoints on a blank background on your PC. ExpertGPS will show them on an aerial photography background. I still use GPSBabel to translate between file formats. I copy the *.usr files directly to the SD card for the Lowrance and use HumminbirdPC to copy the data.hwr file to the SD card for the Humminbird.
It takes some work to manage files this way but it is worth it.
