Minn Kota shaft length ?

Have an older Minn Kota 599 41 ft lb foot control 12/24 , how do you measure the shaft length , I measured from where it screws into the motor and where it goes into the head , I get 35 inches , can this be right ??

Actually it sorta kinda is. Ask 10 people you'll get 12 answers. I believe it's measured from the center of the prop shaft to the bottom of the head. Not entirely sure. Never heard of a 35" shaft though. Have heard of 30" and 36" on transom mounted units. Your motor sounds pretty dated from the model number, so 35 is possible I suppose.

Minnkota specs,The shaft length is from the base of the control box or head down to the collar on the motor or lower unit. Usually rounded off to the nearest foot.

I just took off my older motorguide - and it measured the same. It probably was listed as a 36", but it didn't measure that. Either way it was too short for the chop on Ky lake, so I upgraded to a 45" Fortrex, and I am loving it.
