Hey justin...check out this comparison chart on Sideimagsoft.com...

    Humminbird Comparison Chart and Specs

    I think the 798 replaced the 797...

One thing you should realize if you're interested in getting into the SI units....is the size of the actual image of structure that is shown on the SI screen....

A brush pile that shows on the 2D screen as the size of golf ball will only show as the size of a dime on the SI screen....

Then, when you take into account the 5" screen of the 798 or the 797 ....if you split the views on the screen showing 2d and SI at the same time...that same brush pile may only show as the size of a quarter on the 2D and the size of a soybean on the SI...

Just realize that structure is shown ALOT smaller on the SI screen to get the amount of bottom coverage data into that small screen...

I have had both. I like the 798 much better. The 798 has a bigger screen & much faster GPS response.

When I get a chance to go...I'll call ya to see if you can go with me so you can see the 1197...

It's expensive...but worth every dime in screen real estate...!!

If HB will address this "donut" and upgrade the xducer to dedicated crystals for the DI...this HB would be perfect!!

Does anyone else have any opinions on the 700 series side imaging units, I've been thinking about getting one myself. I don't believe I can justify the cost of one of the bigger units, the small ones are high enough.
