Your not under any cover at home doing this are you? It will not pickup the GPS signal inside. Just the first think that came to my mind.

So I power on and everything works fine... except my gps, i won't post up a navigation screen when I scroll through and the hotkey for the nav screen just goes to another screen.
I got 12 volts coming in and the connections look clean... what could it be?
Go to diagnostic screen and see if GPS is connected. The unit will skip the GPS screens if not connected or no signal. If no GPS shows up out in the open then check your plugs from the Receiver puck into the unit. Restart the unit after you r-seat the plug.
When your unit first powers up go to the System Status screen...
Then go to the Accessory Test screen....to see if the unit recognizes the GPS antenae...
If it not showing on the Accessory Test screen...check the connections into the back of the unit...
Also...on the short pigtail of the GPS cable....take off the little red plastic tip and make sure none of the wires in that pigtail are shorting against each other....

thanks for the tips..... I actually hooked it up on my portable mount and it worked so I just swapped antennaes... there is a spot where it is kinked so I am assuming that was the problem area.
Now I just have to get another for my portable since I live in IL i use it ice fishing, and the lake maps are really nice for that.
I will take the other suggestions into account to see if I changed it for nothing,
Thanks - Adam
Officially I am not saying this… if the problem is the kinked cable than just cut the bad part of the cable out, solder the wires together and re-seal it. Chances are if the cable was bad in that spot that it will work fine. Just match up the same color wire to the same color wire. Like I said: I’m not officially saying to do this…
