If I'm not mistaken, 24v is on two wires. Orange white may be spare or elec (12v). Pos. to neg on batteries. Then hook red wire to one etmpy side of battery and black to other battery empty. The TM completes the cicuit.

Ok, on my Ranger I have 4 wires going to the back of the boat for the trolling motor. A red/black and an orange/white. My question is how should the 2 sets of wires be connected to the batteries to get 24 volts to the trolling motor? My trolling motor doesn't seem to have the power I think it should or the lasting power. Thanks for the help in advance.

So what you're saying is use the black/red and disregard the orange/white, red to positive of one battery, black to negative of other battery and then a jumper between the other pos/neg?
Exactly what trolling motor do you have? You may have a 12/24 system and it gets hooked up differently. Don't wire the batteries in series until you are sure.

OK, then you want to wire the batteries in series. You only need 2 of those wires if the are at least 8 gauge. If smaller you could double them up.

On some boats, two 12v circuits are carried to the bow, and the series connection is made in the plug. I had an xpress that was wired that way.
Need details on the plug as rockmike stated before we can determine how to wire the batteries. All four wires will be used if the series connection is made in the plug.
