Cool Humminbird PC Idea (HB Guys)

Hey HB guys. How about the next time you update the HB PC program you add some way to search for and identify duplicate entries. I have swapped some WP files around and accidentally marked some spots with the SI that I already had. Duplicates take up space and it sure would be great to not have to manually search for duplicate entries.

    Just a suggestion.

I second that whiskers. I went through and named most of my number waypoints a couple weeks back. I forgot to hit "REPLACE" when I put them back on the card, so I ended up with all the waypoints on the card twice. Out of fear of erasing a good point, I had to pull everything up on Google Earth and double check them. My mistake obviously, but a way to find dupliates would have saved me that time to fix it. Overall though.....awesome program.

Next time this happens SpeckWick; try exporting your Nav Data to HumminbirdPC. Set it to show all of your waypoints and than copy them to an EXCEL spreadsheet and use a logic formula to show you which are the duplicates (something like =IF(D2=D1,(IF(E2=E1,"Delete Me","")),""). You will have to sort them by Latitude and Name first before doing this but it’s a quick way to show which are copies. Than you will have to manually delete each duplicate waypoint in HumminbirdPC.

I have tried just what you are suggesting. I am not a computer wiz and those formulas can be complicated. I wouldn't even know where to put the formula.

If you have Oziexplorer, use the sort function. It will alpha-numeric align waypoints. You can see your waypoints in the waypoint manager window. Waypoints will be on top of one another numerically. Easy to identify same numbers.

If you have numerous waypoint files, you can load one file, then append the others, then sort.

    Easy.

Just e-mail me Wiskers if you don't have the Oziexplorer that CP talked about. I have a spreadsheet complete with directions for doing this that I can send back to you or I can maybe do this during lunch one day. I'm on vacation this week but could probably get it done Monday or Tuesday of next week for you.
