    Default Navplanner2 Questions...

Anybody ever used the Navonics NavPlanner2 with there 898c si unit? Can you mark and save waypoints and routes in this software then load them to your 898 unit? What about viewing your platinum 2010 card in the NavPlanner? How easy is it to use? I am thinking about purchasing it... Could be a real benefit if it will do that... Thanks...

NavPlanner2 can write the data.hwr file on the SD card. My 997 is between boats right now so I cannot confirm the waypoints I marked.

The software is supposed to read Navionics SD cards but the software must have consecutive drive letters assigned to the included reader to work. That is easy to do in XP but newer versions make it difficult to impossible.

So it can be tough to view your Navionics SD cards if not it XP.... But if I was just going to mark waypoints and routes then transfer to my 898... Could I just use a regular SD card to do that? From what I read, the NavPlanner2 has the HD maps built into it... I don't see much need in viewing my platinum card unless I wanted to see the 3D contour maps...

Or am I missing something? Thanks for your help... I know all this stuff is suppose to work but sure would like to have somebody confirm that it does before I waste any money.

That is correct. You can create waypoint files and send them to a regular SD card for your head unit to read.

Thanks PanMan.... So what is the point in being able to load your platinum card to navplanner? Is the only advantage to be able to see the 3D contours, pictures, and aerials?

    Thanks again for your help!

To view new and updated lakes/costal water that is not part of NavPlanner2. I have not found a case where that is needed yet.

Thanks again for the help. Looks like I might consider buying the hotmaps explorer and just get the one free HD map download. I am really only interested in one place and since the hotmaps explorer will let you save and download waypoint and routes... that might be my best bet for the money.
