I believe you would have to use an A/B switch or just an extension cable like you mentioned. Just the cable would be a lot cheaper.

Do they make a y cable for the transducer? I wanna use the transducer in the back but be able to move the unit up front and just plug in to the other lead Or I was thinking an extention cable then I could disconnect the unit and plug the front cable into the back one. Any opinions?
I was planning on using a HI-TECH track and post then just loosen the thumb screw and slide it in the front base? Should take less than a minute.

I don't know if this has any bearing with what you are wanting to do, but I saw this on another forum and you might want to check into it.
